In the Name of the Lord |
|
And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
Matthew 28:18-20
It's 1656, 23 December 1997.
God has arranged from me to be free from my work today. The client called me to postpone the appointments. I followed my pastor, Pastor Christopher Lee to the church to prepare for the worship service on Christmas day.
I am the interpreter. Pastor Chris will deliver the message in English and I will translate it into Chinese.
After that, we prayed for the service. We prayed for the participants in the musical special - the pianist, the narrator, the singers, the actress. We prayed for the people who are going to come. We prayed that the LORD will bring those lost people back to him.
As we prayed, someone knocked at the door. Two young men came to conduct an interview for their studies. I could tell it was a ploy to get people to buy computers.
One of them, Siow talked to Pastor Chris as I talked to Tien Soon who wore a cross.
I talked to him. I use the method I learned from the Evangelism Explosion I course. The LORD was with us all the time. He had the idea that he could go to heaven if he died. But he thought it was because he followed the law as stated in the Bible. After the sharing, he realized that heaven is a free gift and that one could be saved only by believing in Jesus Christ alone.
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Romans 6:23
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Ephesians 2:8-9
Pastor and I led him in to say the sinner's prayer. And praise God another soul is saved!
We invited him to come back for the Christmas service on Thursday and on our regular services on Sundays. After he left, we offer of thanks to the Father in Heaven in prayers.
God answers prayers, sometimes immediately and out of our expectations. God is good!
As we were leaving the church, we saw heavy smoke emitting from a house. I call the fire department on my hand phone. There are payphone nearby but I did not have time to think about that. That was my first time calling 994 (fire department) In fact, it was the first time I made an emergency call. Pastor and I rushed to the scene to see if there was anything we could help.
There was no one at home. A crowd was formed. Neighbouring residents were moving out their valuables. The fire truck came about 5 minutes later and managed to stop it before it could spread to the neighbouring houses. Praise the LORD.
As we were leaving, I was thinking about the scripture I shared in the previous posting.
In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
II Thessalonians 5:18
I was thinking, how could I give thanks to the LORD when a house was burned down? Then God told me that no one was hurt. Not a single soul was injured. I praised God for sparing the people.
I then handed up my enrolment form and payment to the Bible College of Malaysia. I will be attending night clases starting from 6 January 1997.
I can’t wait when I can serve the LORD full time!
Praise the LORD. Hallelujah!
I would like to share the following:
I have made a covenant with my eyes not to look at girls lustfully.
I have strived to achieve that only because I was a proud man and I did not want to be caught doing that. But I came across the line while I was browsing in a bookstore. Reading that (and repeating that every now and then) renews my strength.
